Real Accountability

As we prepare the ICS application, the question of how we will measure our success comes up over and over again. So is this is about test prep and testing? iStock_000003380881XSmallNot at ICS , as I have stated in prior posts. Not at all.

But we are accountable to the State, and to you, our parents and stakeholders, for achieving good outcomes. If we are chartered and grow according to our plans, we'll receive close to $20 million in public funds over five years.

How will we know we're using that money as effectively as possible?

That's what we detail in our application, which you are welcome to read. Comment below and we'll send it to you.

Getting this right takes more than following a formula. It will require some trial and error.

Which is why we're delighted to have the support and help of Columbia University professor Aaron Pallas on our journey. Aaron has devoted nearly 25 years of his life to trying to understand what works and what doesn't. It's no secret that he's been critical of many accountability schemes that have been tried so far.

So we're glad to know that our efforts to build a better mousetrap will be guided by someone who has thought long and hard about the question.

Aaron's letter is below.
