It's Getting Exciting!
We finished out our enrollment sessions for new students (and their parents) last week. Nearly 100 of you turned out at Hill Country yesterday for a barbecue.
The energy, enthusiasm and coloring have been infectious for all of us.
You're an incredibly diverse group, with roots in Spain, Guinea-Bissau, Turkey, England, Morocco, Nigeria, Russia, Somalia, Coney Island, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Fiji, Ft. Greene, Guyana, Trinidad, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and Clinton Hill. And that's just what I can remember off the top of my head.
Kindergarten is all filled up; we have about 10 seats left in our first grade class. If you are interested click here and we'll follow up.
Ellen and I have offered jobs to our first six teachers and are continuing to interview additional candidates.
We've walked the building with a number of contractors. We hope to start light renovations and repainting in June. And be done by July.
We've gotten lots of valuable advice from several architects, including an ICS parent. For which we are grateful.
And we've put in our furniture order, and meet with the lunch caterer. (We hope to have a tasting in June)
On top of all this good news, Brian Lehrer invited us on to WNYC last week. It was great to be able to tell a larger audience what we are doing at ICS, and to acknowledge the support we are getting from our parent body.
If you did not hear me live, you can catch the rerun here.
